“The Street Sweeper” (Martin Luther King Jr.)

Today is a bit late in the day (yes I will be getting a post out next Tuesday), but it’s a good one. A few friends and I are going through the book Do Hard Things by Alex and Brett Harris ( http://therebelution.com/ ), and they quoted Martin Luther King Jr. Here it is:

“If it falls your lot to be a street sweeper, sweep streets like Michelangelo painted pictures,  sweep streets like Beethoven composed music…Sweep streets like Shakespeare wrote poetry. Sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will have to pause and say: Here lived a great street sweeper who swept his job well.”
Martin Luther King Jr.

There was also a verse that went along with it, at the moment I have forgotten it…Anyway. This is a great quote, whatever you are doing, big, small, monotonous, do it well, do it for the Glory of God, do it to help out those around you.
And with that, I will leave you to contemplate this unusually long quote (for me anyways).

Have a great week! It’s really quite hot, summer is very much here. One good this is, VBS starts next week!! Till next week!

  1. I love this!! 😀 One of the verses was Colossians 3:23 – “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters”
